Scope and Content

Annual report for Newton, KS corps, 1973. The cover, printed on glossy paper, has a large Red Shield and a black & white photo of a childrens meeting. The title and year are printed in black vertically next to the photo. The corps address is printed in the lower right corner. Page 2 has a black & white photo of the corps building. The years of service to Newton and the surrounding area are printed below. Page 3 has a letter from John P. Dickey, the Advisory Board Chairman., printed on his business (Dickey Music Co) letterhead. Page 4 has a letter from Lt. James A. Birney, corps officer and page 5 contains the income and expense report. Pages 6 and 7 details the statitistics of service to others and the Christmas report. A black and white photo of corps service in action is printed on page 7. Pages 8 and 9 have a montage of photos showing service to children and upcoming programs. Page 10 lists the Advisory Board members and acknowledges volunteer service. Page 11 has The Salvation Army mission statement and requests consideration when estate planning. The back cover has a verse, written by William Pearson and printed in The Salvation Army Song Book No 789, and a Red Shield logo.
