Letter and envelope from Mary Craig of “Leavittsburgh” (sp) to Nellie Larnard of Baconsburg.
Dear Friend Nellie
do
you think I have forgotten you. that
I have been silent so long. if you
do I will Jog your mind a little
in another direction. When I received
your letter I was so provoked to [?] think [?]
I had to wait so long for it- that I hardly
knew what to do. but intended to answer
right away to set an example for you to
follow. so you see what I would have an evening
to myself to write and it is almost as long
as you were at writing to me. so now I will
say to you that seeing I felt so far from
any intentions
that I would be glad if you would set
direction. I have to laugh to [?]
the example yourself. I suppose you are - self when
I think about it . I wondered
capable of doing most any thing normal [?] since how you
would feel if you knew a pain
that convention suppose you write one as if eyes
were searching that church everyday
long Nellie. I have heard some considerable for you
and [?] know them to belong to a stranger. now you see if I had your
photograph. as I ought to have I would have
shown the gentleman that end he might
have found you. but he thinks he sees
you. he says so anyway, Nettie he likes
tall Ladies and so I told him to look for
one about like myself if anything a little
taller Nettie he has no one chosen from the
fair Ladies , as yet and a first first rate , good hearted
fellow but I will not tell you his name
until you come up here . and if I can
I will give him a chance to see and talk
to you.. but I suppose it will be as hard
to get you here as it was for me to go there
I will look awhile for you longer for you
I must inquire how you spent the holidays.
I have not heard from you
since then have I. I have forgotten the date of your
last letter but to continue, what did you
receive for Christmas & new year gifts. I
suppose something nice. when you come
to see me I will show you my Christmas
gift for it something that i cannot carry
around with me very well. that is one of
my presents. I happened to get three this
year. for an unusual thing.
How is Mary Joe & Wilmots family
as all that I know [?] [?]
give my god wishes to any that
may inquire. if there are any
