Dewarnt "I received your letter a few days ago and was glad to hear from y you that you are all well and hope these few lines will find a you all well I am not very well at present for I have a ad cold & a head ake This night yet I am able to talk my shear of grub when I cook it well I have had a good stomach This _______ as ever I had ___ the lord has given me something to eat since I have been alone I have made about lb 200 ? a year which makes me about lb: 26000 To the interest (?) will keep ____land here is very high and everything else (?) fruit this year here is very scarse no apples harly any you wanted to no , where gabriel is he is at Cornelius Deurant (?) I sae him last sunday at Cornelius Deurant (?) and told him that I had, a letter from you and he said that he had, a letter from Risher (?) family and they and they _____ Cornelius Deurant has been building a large house sziG2 So? no more ? at at present but remain your affectionate brother and friend in the lord. I his (?) and god to praise y day alone I live and go I to praise by day alone by night I love his name woman so(?) scarse ? here that I I have prefered to live alone but when I find the right one I shall I think chang my way may god bless you all John P. Deurant It is now late and I must close this night I have written too long letter and am tired good by to you all and god grant to bless you all for christ sake amen (?) writ soon to lafayette " John P.
