Description

A World War II Uniform, shirt and pants, belonging to Joseph Futey. Joseph James Futey grew up in Warren on Highland Ave. His parents were Steven Futey and Mary Pavlik Futey. His siblings were John, Steve, Agnes, Mary, Margaret, and Clara. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1942. Joseph enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on the U.S.S. Pensacola. He was a Machinist Mate Second Class. He received a WWII Victory Medal and 6 Asiatic-Pacific stars. He was part of the Naval Occupation Force for Northern Japan in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1946. Joseph married Marcella Shirley Ann Peresie in 1947 and had 3 children - Jeanne, Robert, and David. Joseph started and owned J.J. Futey & Sons Construction Company in Warren. He operated it for 40 years doing roofing, insurance claims, remodeling, and home additions.
