“It is one hundred and twenty years since the Venice biennial began. The 56th edition offers zimbabwe its 3rd opportunity to showcase a selection of its leading artists in its National Pavillion. On my own behalf and that of Kenyan artists and creative people at large, I would like to congratulate Chikonero Chazunguza, Masimba Hwati, and Gareth Nyandoro, for courageously accepting the honourable call and taking your respective places in the orchestra.. Similarly, I would like to salute the perception and sheer determination of the commissioner and curators, Mrs Doreen Sibanda, Raphael Chikukwa, Tafadzwa Gwetai (Kimathi) - respectively, and the entire team that made this possible. The resilience of the Zimbabwean people remains an inspiration. Viva, Comrades.”
