Name/Title
Der Kalteste Sommer, ComicsDescription
A working mother, a working father and two children have to fight for their survival. They leave their homeland, which has become too dangerous, and give up their daily life because it has become unbearable. They leave their families behind to pursue a life that allows them to think beyond the next day, beyond the next month and to make plans for a future in peace: working, studying and with equal access to democracy , social rights and culture to live among us.
The stories are based on the autobiographical accounts of refugees we met in Athens and Berlin. They are stories we learned about by chance. We decided to convert these into comics to avoid drama while retaining narrative details. The protagonists of these stories are people who belong to our families, could be our friends or neighbors. They are undoubtedly people who will one day be recognized as fellow human beings in our societies and our spaces. Let's welcome them.
Given the sharp increase in influx in recent months, our new contribution to the public debate focuses on real stories, told by real people. In addition to the comics, the booklet also contains a literary text and two short essays about migration.
