Name/Title

Nicolas De Lekuona

Description

The brief (1932-June 1937) and varied work of Nicolás de Lekuona, has meant an important discovery for several reasons. On the one hand, his oeuvre being inscribed in the II Republic, is the irreplaceable testimony of its time. It was a convulsed period, although dynamic and particularly moving for those interested in Hispanic cultural renovation. According to Moreno Villa, around a hundred important people worked with great conviction and faith, under high pressure to achieve that goal. It was the expression of youth participation on the discoveries that would change the line of artistic creation by means of new aesthetic bases and in order to join the trajectory of historic avant-gardes.
