In 1919 the jail stood at the site where the City Hall is now. In this photo, from an old pamphlet on the Armistice Day Tragedy of 1919, men are seen carrying the body of Wesley Everest from the jail to a van that would take it to a burial place at Greenwood Cemetery, Centralia, WA. After Everest was lynched, his body was taken to the jail and left there for two days prior to burial. Have negative.Collection
