Niels Nielsen, kneeling, right, Public Works and Highways Dept., points out the latest carvings to Austin Macaulay, left, Franconia Notch State Park. The two men and a special crew were on the granite profile for their annual inspection and repairs when they discovered the vandalism which cut thru the protective cover-ing in places, allowing moisture to seep into the cracks.
