Name/Title

H.T. Baldwin Walking Stick

Entry/Object ID

MWM2017.0012.0001

Description

Wooden walking/ hiking stick. The names of 34 locations in the White Mountains [presumably places hiked to by the maker of the walking stick] have been hand-carved into the wood, in addition to the name H.T. Baldwin. The stick is 34.5 inches long. The bottom of the stick is worn from use and some of the carvings are incomplete [possibly because the bottom of the stick was broken off]. There is a large check in the wood that runs 3/4 of the way down. Locations include: Washington, Adams, Clay, Jefferson, Madison, Pleasant, Franklin, Clinton, Monroe, Walkers Cascade, Howard Cascade, Mt. Lafayette, Agassiz Basin, Parker Mt., Flume Pool, Basin Falls, Mt. Prospect, Profile Lake, Franconia Notch, Eagle Lakes, Gibbs Falls, Echo Lake, Mt. Prospect, Snow Arch, Fall of the Thousand Streams, Raymonds Cataract, Lake of the Clouds, Tuckermans Ravine, Silver Cascade, Hermit Lake, Crystal ____, Glen _____, and Flume.
