Oil on canvas painting titled "Mount Washington in the Clouds" formerly called "Autumnal Landscape" is painted at an unknown date by Mary Cable Butler. Snowy view of the summit of Mount Washington and lowlands in the foreground at autumn. Encased in a simple gray wood frame.
The artist, Mary Cable Butler was born in 1865 in Chester, Colorado. She traveled extensivley in Europe, the western United States, Maine and New Hampshire. Mary graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts in 1902, and became known for seascapes and mountain landscape paintings. She earned the Gold Medal of Plastic Club in 1918 and the Mary Smith Prize from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts in 1925. Her art is widely exhibited in public and private collections.Collection
