The artist Daniel Francois was born to Irish immigrant parents in Boston, MA. In his early years he paide Benjamin Champney to give him art lessons at night after work before moving to Paris. While in Paris he accompanied Pissarro to observe for seven years when he returned to Boston. After struggling for about four years Santry responded to an "Artist in Residence" at Sunset Hill House in Sugar Hill, New Hampsire. He remained their for 23 years until his death in 1915.Collection
