Description

Image is of a house with three people standing on the attached, roofless porch. A woman in a dress and apron is framed by two trees in the yard. To the right is a man in a coat and hat, and at his feet may be a cat drinking or eating from a dish. To the man's right is a woman in a dress. There are three barrels under the porch, and stairs to the far right leading down to the ground. On the ground stands another man in a coat and hat. All seem to be purposefully facing the photographer. In the yard there are more trees and what may be a pile of stones or of wood. In the foreground is a dirt track or road. Believed to be the Gale House in Intervale. The house burned in the 1960s.

Condition

Notes

Image is grainy, likely from the abrasion of dirt on the plate over time. There is a large loss of emulsion in the upper left hand corner and along the top and left side, as well as a smaller amount along the bottom and the right side, and some inside the image. Image is partially obscured because of all the emulsion loss, and is difficult to make out because of the abrasion.
