Description

A birch tree with a bent trunk dominates the right side of the image, which is a forest scene. There are rocks and ferns in the foreground and a small stream or brook that runs diagonally from the back of the middleground out toward the viewer and the birch tree. In the left of the image are a couple of pine trees and in the background are many more trees along with the vegetation of underbrush. This image may have been taken in North Conway, where White had his studio.

There is a small amount of loss of emulsion along the bottom of the plate, slightly up into the image. This slighlty obscures the image. There is also very slight loss of emulsion in the upper right corner. In the lower left corner is written the number 99.
