Description

Small hand-sampled piece of breccia rock. Sample belongs to a group of rocks known as the Moat Volcanics. Breccia rocks are are well exposed in the Moat Mountains near North Conway. This breccia sample is about 170 million years old. Collected by two well-trained geology students for the 2014 "Beyond Granite" exhibition at MWM. Part of a complete (or at least comprehensive) hand-sample collection of all the rocks of the White Mountains.
