This is a collection of short stories written by Nathanial Hawthorne and include illustrations as well. There are also a small collection of stamps on the Front Pastedown Page. Stories Include: - The Great Stone Face - The Ambitious Guest - The Great Carbuncle - Sketches from Memory Illustrations Include: - The Old Man of the Mountains (Frontispiece) - Profile Lake and Eagle Cliff (pg. 6) - Flume Gorge (pg. 22) - Echo Lake, Franconia Notch (pg. 38) - The Old Man of the Mountains from Outlook (pg. 54) Two stamps are of the Old Man of the Mountain, one has the date June 21, 1788. One stamp has Nathaniel Hawthorne depicted on it. The final stamp has a red fox on it and was put out in 1991 by the National Wildlife Federation. Also on the front pastedown page there is writting in ink that says " Elliot & Allison December 19, 1974." Physical Description: Light Green hardcover with an imprint of the Old Man of the Mountain. Paper sleeve is a faded grey with another photo of the Old Man of the Mountain.
