Scope and Content

This catalog was made to accompany an exhibit of the same name held at the Boston Athenaeum from October 3-29, 1980. It details the founding of the Boston Athenaeum and its art collections through an introduction by Pamela Hoyle and two essays, one by Jonathan P. Harding and the other by Rosemary Booth. Also includes a checklist of all 137 items exhibited, and 34 black and white figures to illustrate this volume. Two half sheets with directions/map of the Athenaeum area are included between pages 12 and 13. One is hand-drawn on lined note paper and the other is a xerox of the first.
