Description

This is a New Hampshire automotive license plate commemorating the 1955 visit made by President Dwight Eisenhower in acknowledgement and celebration of the Old Man of the Mountain in Franconia Notch. The object features both the emblem of Old Man of the Mountain and the name of President Eisenhower prominently in the center of the plate in dark green lettering. The plate also featured the year of 1955 at the top with New Hampshire on the bottom of the plate.

Context

This was a major visit to the State of New Hampshire but a sitting President in celebration of a highly celebrated and recognized state symbol of the Old Man of the Mountain. The visit was in coordination with the Old Man's "Birthday" Celebration which was the 150th anniversary of its discovery by white settlers.
