Short biography of prominent North Conway photographer, Dick Smith. The biography is two pages, hand typed, and was written by Smith's wife, Barbara Smith.
Smith was born in Hyannis, MA on September 18, 1927 and moved around Massachusetts and Maine during his childhood. After serving in WWII, where he made his first photo sales by taking pictures of his navy base in Great Lakes, IL and printing them on postcard paper, Smith moved to North Conway in 1947. He met his wife, Barbara in 1951 and they married one year later. His photographs appeared in calendars, greeting cards, billboards, advertisements, and other printed materials. His collection of photographs became one of the largest in New England and Smith was used as a primary source for publishers using New England photographs.Collection
