Land near Bald Peak, then known as Bald Knob was purchased by Thomas Gustave Plant, the builder of Castle in the Clouds (also known as "Lucknow"). Plant envisioned a golf course, club house, and guest cottages that could be used by his many guests. The Bald Peak Colony Club was incorporated in 1920.Collection
