Scope and Content

"Our Then postcard, dated Aug. 8, 1924, shows the Cloverdale Cottage in Starr King. Today we know it as the Clermont Apartments on Route 2 in Jefferson. In 1945, Henry and Agnes Wood bought the property from Josie (Mrs. George) Towle and changed the name of the place to the Woodford House. The building was sold in 1958, to Joseph Doiron, who changed the name yet again, this time to the Clermont. In 1985, Dennis and Evelyn Howard purchased the place." The above quote is from the caption of a clipping of an article in the Lancaster Herald.
