This figured & fancy coverlet is attributed to Samuel Graham and may have been woven in Henry County, Indiana in 1849. The two cornerblocks read "1849" with a spread eagle logo. The coverlet was woven in two panels, which are joined by a center seam. It has a floral centerfield pattern repeating horizontally four times, which combines large lotus flowers with smaller floral motifs on a polka-dot background . It has flowerpot borders on the sides and a fern tree border on the bottom. The doubleweave structure combines a layer of undyed cotton with a layer of dark blue wool. It has self-fringe on the bottom and applied fringe on the sides.Collection
