Description

Red, navy, and green figured tied Beiderwand coverlet; two panels joined by a center seam; self-fringe on three sides; distelfink and rosette border on three sides; floral medallion centerfield. Mathias Mann (1803-1893) was born in Germany. He emigrated to America in 1832 with his family, who became naturalized citizens in 1838. Mann wove coverlets in Hanover, York County, Pennsylvania. None of his coverlets are dated.
