Red and natural figured tied Beiderwand coverlet; two panels joined by a center seam; self-fringe on three sides; distelfink border on bottom; rose border on sides; plume and fan centerfield pattern.
John Kittinger (1809-1891) moved from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Ohio in 1833, and “about 1835 he returned East to purchase machinery for weaving.” Kittinger wove coverlets in Springfield, Ohio from 1836 to 1840. Springfield is now located in Summit County, which was formed from portions of Medina, Portage, and Stark Counties in 1840.Collection
