Red, blue, and green figured tied Beiderwand coverlet; two panels joined by a center seam; self-fringe and feather border on three sides; double rose and compass centerfield pattern.
William Henry Gernand (1823-1883) was the son of coverlet weaver Jacob B. Gernand. He purchased weaving equipment from Andrew Kump in 1855, after which he used Kump’s patterns and “damask manufacturer” corner block design. He wove coverlets in Westminster, Carroll County, Maryland from 1855 to 1879.Collection
