Description

Red and green figured Beiderwand coverlet; seamless; star edged top border; distelfink border on three sides; applied fringe on three sides; Lilies of France with starburst centerfield pattern. Samuel Beidler Musselman (c. 1802-1874) wove coverlets from 1837 to 1860 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. At no. 70, this is one of his earlier coverlets; the highest number recorded on an extant coverlet is no. 878, woven in 1853.
