Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Selvedges on sides, top and bottom turned in towards one another and sewn. The coverlet has a central motif that consists of a single circular floral and scroll medallion with an eight pointed star at its center. The medallion is surrounded by a wreath of scrolling vines. On each side of this central motif are a pair of eagles carrying a scroll, a pair of deer, a pair of birds on a branch, and a building. On the outer edge of field, a chain of scrolling vines links the buildings. Border is ropelike with boxes at the top and bottom for the date. At each corner is an eight-pointed star.
