Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and agua and red worsted, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Selvedges with fringe on both sides; hems at top and bottom, bottom has fringe attached to seam. Central motif consists of center floral medallion surrounded by a chain of scrolling leaves, flowers, and fruit. Four eagles are in the corners of the center field. Coverlet is woven in even bands of red and aqua. Border is a chain of flowers, leaves, and fruit. At each corner is a flower with leaves spiraling in a pinwheel-like fashion. Secondary border on outer edge is comprised of a zigzag pattern.Collection
