Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue, red, green, and gold wool, tied double clogh (Beiderwand). Hemmed top and bottom. Fringe is attached to three sides plus it rounds corner at top and extends a quarter of the way. Central motif consists of square blocks which contain a four flower medallion and has four additional flowers at each corner. Framing the squares is a chain of diamonds, each diamond has a dot at its center. This framing is accentuated by a fleurette where the chain of diamonds intersect. Horizontal bands of color run through coverlet. Border on sides and bottom have an alternating tree and floral motif. Secondary border on sides and bottom consists of interlocking diamonds.
