Description

Figured coverlet; undyed and blue cotton and red and blue wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Center seam joins two panels. Hemmed at top; sides and bottom are fringed, although most of the side fringe is missing. Central motif is in varying bands of color. Medallions of four roses alternate between those of four large leaves in some horizontal bands; whereas in others the roses alternate between star shaped acorns medallions. Border on sides and bottom repeats an alternating rose bush, bird, bowl of flowers pattern.
