Description

Figured coverlet; undyed and blue cotton and blue, red, and olive wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Top hemmed sides and bottom fringed. Central motif consists of nine squares running three across and three down. Each square has four leafy flowers emanating from a small central star. Rosettes on straight stems fill the spaces between the leaves. Dividing the squares is a narrow diamond shapes geometric border. The border alternates a tulip style flower with a circular flower. These flowers rise from oak-like leaves with stylized acorns running along the inner edge of the leaf. The leaves with the circular flower have birds standing on the inner edge.
