Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either side. Hemmed top; fringed bottom. Central motif consists of oval and diamond shaped medallions. The oval medallion has four cornucopia at right angles with lilies and thistles flowing from them. This design is alternated with scalloped edged diamond shapes that have a floral design in the center. To either side of the diamond shape design are small crosses. The borders on the top and bottom have roses alternating with a foliage design. The side borders have a thistle and stylized flowers motif within a geometric "dentil" work pattern.
