Dark olive green and natural figured double weave coverlet; two panels joined by a center seam; self-fringe on three sides; border on three sides; grapevine centerfield pattern.
Philip Henry Anshutz (born c. 1802) emigrated from Germany around 1833 and settled in Baltimore, where he was naturalized in 1840. Anshutz moved to Carrollton, Ohio and wove coverlets there from around 1842 to 1845, none of which are dated. His corner blocks regularly feature a backward letter N and the word “in” spelled “yn.”Collection
