Description

Navy and natural figured double weave coverlet with border on four sides and self-fringe along bottom. Two joined panels. Woven for Uriah J. Van Ripur [sic] around February 13, 1834. Uriah J. Van Riper was born around September 27, 1812 and died February 19, 1879. He lived in Wayne, Passaic Co., New Jersey. He eventually inherited the Riper-Hopper house in Wayne, a historic place and home of the Wayne Township Museum. He married Anna Banta, perhaps around the date on this coverlet.
