Description

Figured coverlet sample; undyed and blue cotton with borwn, blue and red wool, doublewave. One selvedge and three raw edges. Central motif of the field shows two horizontal repeats and one vertical repeat of highly stylized floral and leaf medallion alternating with an 8 pointed star. A second stylized floral and leaf medallion appears at the edges of the field. Top and bottom borders contain houses, each with highly stylized trees; the houses are joined by a picket fence. Side border is meandering vine with grapes and leaves. The cornerblock appears in the two righthand corners.
