Description

Geometric doubleweave coverlet; navy wool and natural (undyed) cotton. Two panels joined by a center seam. Allover small diamond pattern with pine tree border on three sides. Machine-woven cotton trim with knotted fringe and tassels was applied at a later date.

Cotton tape and knotted fringe are a single piece; the multi-strand filler (weft) in the warp-faced fabric tape extends past the selvedge to form the knotted fringe. Tassels are comprised of separate threads folded over a loop in the fringe and bound; each tassel is attached individually.
