Spinning wheel; vertical with bobbin/flyer above wheel, treadle. A square base has treadle pinned to outside by wooden rod. The footman connects the treadle to the drive wheel axle. Two wheel posts are set into the base. Drive wheel axle, with wooden extension, fits into rear post and rests in notch on front post. Drive wheel has eight spokes; the rim is constructed in four sections, reinforced by small metal plates nailed to inside of rim. The mother-of-all fits into channels in upper part of the wheel posts. The maidens are are horizontal, to the spinner's left. Hinged piece of wood on front maiden fits over flyer, which has leather wrapped around it. It is adjusted by a peg as flyer brake. The bobbin is present. The flyer has one arm and designed for a single drive band. Two tensioning screws pass through the horizontal bar at the top of the wheel posts. Scoring on spokes, posts and maidens.Collection
