Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Selvedges on both sides; hem at top, fringed bottom. Central motif consits of large four rose medallions and a quatrefoil pattern. Floral, chevron shaped, swags accent the roses. Border is a chain of stylized leaves, berries, and floral vines. Corner blocks are framed in a checkerboard pattern.
