Description

Figured coverlet; undyed and blue cotton and red, blue, and green wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Hemmed top and bottom, fringe attached on sides and bottom. Central motif cosists of floral medallions alternating with smaller floral/starburst medallions. Both medallions have at its center a flower with four heart shaped petals surrounded by a ring of dots. The larger of the two medallions is encircled by a chain of flowers. Border is a swag with roosters, framed underneath by the repeated word "PENNSYLVANIA'. Secondary border is a double row of eight-pointed stars.
