Hole and slot tape loom with box and warp reel, dated 1768, probably "Pennsylvania Dutch" in origin. The hand-carved date and initials suggest that this loom was made as a courting gift as were so many of the early textile devices such as niddy-noddies, temples, clock-reels and even spinning wheels. It would take a sturdy maiden to carry this one around.
