Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and red and blue wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Center seam joins two panels. Hemmed top, fringed sides and bottom. Central motif consists of two medallions in alternating vertical columns. One is a floral motif where the main petals form an "X"; the other is a sixteen pointed star with a fleurette in the center. The floral motifs are surrounded by scrolling leaves and the star is surrounded by smaller stars. The coverlet has a ground of alternating red and blue horizontal bands. The bottom border is actually a continuation of the field pattern that has been separated from the field by thin stripes. This bottom border is further separated by the woven text. Side borders have interlocking diamonds edging the main motif of stylized trees and fleurettes.Collection
