Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and rose red, blue, and olive green wool, twill. Selvedges on either side; hemmed top and bottom. Central motif consists of floral medallions. In one medallion large roses encircle an open flower. Another medallion, which is only completely visible once in the coverlet, is composed of a floral wreath encircling an eight-pointed star-like flower. The star flower rests upon a myriad of small flowers. The ground of the coverlet has the appearance of stripes. The borders show an alternating floral and floral within a band design.
