Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either side; hemmed top and bottom. Central motif consists of oval floral medallions. The medallions are composed of tulips with a large flower at the center. Also in the center field are diamond shaped floral motifs. Borders on the top and bottom contain several eagles, each carrying a shield upon its breast and arrows in its claws. The eagles are separated by double columns with a compass and square above. The side borders are composed of a spread eagle on either side of Indendence Hall with double pine trees separating each repeat of the pattern. The eagles and building are overspread by a double row of stars in a crescent pattern with foliage and flowers in between the rows of stars.Collection
