Figured coverlet; blue cotton and red and blue wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Center seam joins two panels. Top edge is hemmed, sides and bottom are fringed. Central motif consists of circular floral medallions alternating with a four rose medallion. The coverlet is woven in bands of red and blue, giving an overall striped appearance. Borders run along on three sides of the coverlet and contain three rows of birds facing a stylized tree separated by two flowered trees. The rows alternate in narrow stripes of red, blue, red on the lower edge, but stay consistent with the color of the rows in the main section of the coverlet on the sides.Collection
