Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either side. Hemmed top and bottom. The central motif of the coverlet is a four roses medallion with an open petaled floral motif in the center. Two speading leaves enclose each side. Small stars surround the rose motif. Borders on three sides. The side border show two different starburst designs framed by floral and leaf chains. The lower border shows horses facing each other, while above there are two spread eagles holding a shield and an arrow in either claw. Surrounding the eagles are small stars.
