Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either side; hemmed top and bottom. The central motif consists of medallions of four roses surrounding a single flower. These medallions are separated by oval floral motifs. Borders on three sides are of spread eagles with a shield on their breasts and holding an arrow and branch stand above the geometric design. Separating the eagles are stylized trees. The eagles along the bottom border have a different shield and the stylized tree is a different style. Secondary borders on sides contain a geometric diamond design along the outer edge.
