Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and red wool, tied double cloth (Beiderwand). Hemmed top and bottom, with fringe applied to bottom and self-fringe on sides. The central motif within the field is a center medallion of lilies and plumes surrounded by grape leaves. Surrounding the center medallion are triangles of red and white. Borders on top and bottom are different from the sides. The top and bottom borders have a vase with flowers in the center and trailing leaves and flowers to either side. Above this design is a swag and tassel design and above that the name and address of the weavers. The top border is cut off, showing only the swags and tassels without the trailing flowers.
