Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either side; hemmed top and bottom. Central motif consists of six circular floral medallions. The medallions are composed of an open petaled flower surrounded by a tulip and leaf design. Between the medallions are floral motifs. The border is on all sides and contains an eagle on either side of Independence Hall and two columns with the compass and square on top of the columns. Stars form an arch to enclose the eagle designs. The building motif is only in the side border; however, the eagle and column pattern do continue on the top and bottom borders.
