Description

Figured coverlet; undyed cotton and blue wool, double cloth. Center seam joins two panels. Selvedges on either side. Hemmed top and bottom. The central motif consists of elongated oval medallions with four tulips surrounded by a foliage design of branches with berries and small fleurettes. Separating the tulip design is an open four petal design. Border on four sides includes a spread eagle with stars flowing from its beak into a slight arch over its head and holding branches in its claws. Between each eagle is a domed building.
