Design: central medallion has portrait of Samuel Crompton with scroll "1827 Samuel Crompton 1927" surmounted by the Crompton arms, the outer border 11" wide has repeated pattern of Crompton arms, the inner border 6" has floral motif outlined by a Greek key, corner pictures around the medallion with captions: Hall I' Th' Wood", "Crompton's Mule 1799", "Modern Mule" and "Crompton's Birth Place", also woven in the coverlet: "REGd No. 237826". Paper label 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" in green, silver, and white, reading INSCRIPTION: "Centrenary/ Samuel Crompton/ Guaranteed Fast Colours/ Hmmed British Make", glued to the coverlet.
